Partnering with Saga City, tested incentive system for Local Resource Circulation
[Company / organization] ECOMMIT Co.,Ltd. Saga City AEON KYUSHU Co., Ltd.
Members, their roles, and reason for cooperation
We signed the “Agreement on Collaboration on Environmentally-Friendly Local Resource Circulation, etc.'' with Saga City. It aims to maximize the use of Saga City's local resources and promote the sustainable circular economy. Based on this agreement, we collaborate with stores in Saga City to carry out a clothing collection and point demonstration project, and further promote the business in Saga City based on the verification results. As for the first step, we have started the initiative at Aeon Saga Yamato store. By sorting and redistributing the collected clothing, ecommit realizes resource circulation.
Key points of collaboration:
Same as above.
Time started (or to be started)
Cooperation agreement: November 8, 2022 to March 31, 2026
Technology and business model
ecommit and ITOCHU Corporation are taking initiative of a project called “Wear to fashion1” which reduces the amount of discarded textiles and clothing as much as possible, maximizes the value of things, and circulates resources through a combination of reuse and recycling. For instance, the clothes collected at the Aeon Saga Yamato store's clothing collection box are reused and recycled appropriately.
The effectiveness of the project would be verified from the perspective of environmental improvement activities and economic activities based on the accumulated environmental behavior data. This project is carried out with support from the Ministry of the Environment's “Green Life Points Promotion Project for Food and Living”.
Even after the demonstration project with Saga City ends, we will continue our clothing collection through Wear to Fashion.
During the demonstration project, those who bring in clothing will be given "Sustainable Points" (Green Life Points) which could be exchanged for coupons available at stores in Saga City.
