Basic values and policies for corporate efforts toward the circular economy
Yokogawa has defined three goals as the vision of society for 2050, one of which is the realization of a circular
economy. We are seeing a movement that rejects the one-way take, make, and dispose economy. This new economy circulates
resources and emphasizes services over physical products. Yokogawa aims to make a transition to a circular economy that
uses resources without waste and makes effective use of assets.
Specifically, we provide consulting and advanced solutions that utilize digital technology, and products that can be
used for a long period of time with low environmental impact, support stable operation and efficiency throughout the
life cycle of customer equipment, and we aim to transform a business model that promotes resource recycling.
Market opportunities in circular business and company strength, indicators and goals
In our previous mid-term business plan TF2020, KPIs were set for the following four value creation themes:
-We offer water environment technologies and solutions such as leak monitoring and operational systems for water and
sewerage networks that ensure the security and efficiency of water supplies while at the same time promoting effective
water usage.
-We optimize temperature, flow rate and pressure parameters in complex production processes to maximize product yields
while minimizing energy and resource consumption.
-Our consulting and solution services optimize production processes to improve overall plant efficiency and operational
stability.
-We provide products and services to maintain ongoing operational stability throughout the plant life cycle, encouraging
the efficient use of resources.
In 2021, we started the new mid-term business plan AG2023, and have listed following three value creation themes as the
creation of a resource-recycling ecosystem:
-Contributing to the advanced chemical and biochemical industries.
-Supporting the efficient recycling of plastics and other materials.
-Creating a new ecosystem with biomass materials.
Organization
We regard sustainability as one of our key management issues, and under the governance of the Board of Directors, we
incorporate sustainability indicators into our mid-term business plan and implement PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) cycle.
At AG2023, we are expanding the scope of our efforts and building a system to incorporate sustainability goals into
individual targets of each employee of our group.
