Basic values and policies for initiatives towards circular economy
Daiwa House Group formulated the long-term environmental vision "Challenge ZERO 2055" in fiscal 2016, focusing on 2055, which marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Daiwa House Industry, We aim to realize a sustainable society and try to create "zero" environmental impacts. The "Challeng ZERO Waste and Reuse " is one of the key targets for achieving the vision. We will use only recycled materials at our housing and construction businesses by 2055. Through extending the durability of our buildings, we aim to minimize the volume of resources used and waste emissions.
Market opportunities and our strengths in circular business
Daiwa House Group are developing houses that can continually be inhabited over the long term, and togather with this, have developed a long-term warranty system. We provide proposals for repair and maintenance through inspection opportunities and have promoted initiatives to extend the service life of buildings. Daiwa House Group endeavors to maximize property values and revitalize distribution through our Livness business, which includes brokerage, purchase and resale, and renovation of all real estate in the housing and buisiness field.
Setting indices/targets
Calculating backward from the long-term environmental vision, Daiwa House Group have set 2030 as a milestone for achieving the vision. We formulate concrete targets and plans as the Endless Green Program nearly every three-five years in accord with the period of a medium-term management plan to promote it, Our management indicators(KPIs) are as follows:
・Number of assets subject to effective use/Number of buildings subject to durability extension
・Recycling rate of waste plastics material (production)
・Reduction rate of amenities that are plastic-containing products specified in law (vs FY2021)/Recycling rate (hotels)
・Achievement of zero waste emissions targets by principal suppliers
Implementation system
The Daiwa House Group Environmental Promotion Committee, chaired by the Senior Department Manager of the Sustainability Management Department of the Company, oversees our activities involving the enviroment. At biannual meetings, the committee examines enviroment-related risks and oppprtunities and decides which initiatives we should undertake. As one of the important matters concerning our environmental management, the Endless Green Program is subject to report to the Board of Directors, the chairperson of the Commitee reports on progress to the Board of Directors once a year and conducts a timely review of strategy, targets, and plans.
