The Launching Ceremony of “Noteworthy Cases 2024” was held
J4CE regularly hosts public-private dialogues as a platform for exchanging ideas and driving further progress in the circular economy. The 17th dialogue took place at the Keidanren Building on February 10, 2025, showcasing noteworthy initiatives by Japanese companies advancing the circular economy both domestically and internationally.
"Noteworthy Cases 2024" highlights 18 outstanding examples of collaboration among various stakeholders under the theme of "Collaboration in the Circular Economy", which is the central focus of J4CE’s activities this year.
The ceremony began with opening remarks from Mr. Nakata, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Environment; Mr. Takeuchi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; and Ms. Noda, Vice Chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren). This was followed by congratulatory speeches from Prof. Hosoda, Vice Rector of Tokai University (Faculty of Political Science and Economics); Prof. Umeda, from the Artificial Engineering Research Center at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Engineering; and Dr. Aoki, Chief Researcher and Deputy Director of the Sustainable Consumption and Production Area at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). These experts also provided insights and advice on the selection of the 18 highlighted cases.
In the second part of the ceremony, 19 companies—including those whose cases were selected and others actively engaged in circular economy initiatives through collaboration—delivered short pitch presentations on their projects.
The final part featured a dynamic networking session, where participants engaged in discussions and explored exhibition booths, further fostering dialogue and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
A total of 169 people (excluding organisers and co-organisers) from 97 companies and organizations participated, including partner companies and organizations that are not members of J4CE.
