Contributing to the circular economy through the "Water Stand" business, a water server directly connected to the water supply

[Company / organization] WATERSTAND Co., Ltd.

Waterstand Co., Ltd.

In 2012, we formed a business alliance with Coway (Korea) to expand our "Waterstand" business.

Explanation of technology and business model

There are two types of “Water Stand”s: one with a nano-trap filter that removes viruses and bacteria but leaves minerals, and the other with a RO reverse osmosis filter that removes even radioactive materials (leaving only water molecules).

In addition to the filters, “Water Stand” has a lineup of products based on the temperature range (room temperature, cold water and hot water) of the water to be extracted. And the rental fee is a simple fixed monthly fee with no additional charges that includes all after-sales services. If you do not have access to a direct connection to the water supply, we can also provide "Eco Server" that can be used by pouring tap water into it.

As we retain ownership of the "Water Stand", we can maintain routinely “Water Stand” by ourselves. It allows us to use for long-term. Also, it allows for the use of recycled machines, reuse of parts, and proper disposal in consideration of the environment.

Achievements and targets, etc.

In February 2021, the number of "Water Stands" installed exceeded 100,000.

We have determined our target to reduce the number of disposable plastic bottles emitted is 3 billion in 2030.

We calculate the number of plastic bottles emitted is as follows;

A) number of “Water Stand” servers installed

B) assuming one water stand is used by four people

C) number of disposable plastic bottles emitted per capita

number of “Water Stand” servers installed x assuming one water stand is used by four people x number of disposable plastic bottles emitted per capita
