Material recycling of waste wood and circulation logistics

[Company / organization] Tokyo Board Industries CO.,LTD

Starting period (plan) etc.

The year of 1991.

Description of technology and business model

Our business model is to collect waste wood and turn it into a product (particle board) in which fixed carbon in wood has been recycled and contributes to mitigate global warming.

Our subsidiary collects waste wood on their return way (collection and transportation business) when they deliver products (freight transportation business) to our customer which leads to cut down CO2 emission in logistics.

Disposal: We collect or accept all discarded wood such as lumber generated at construction and demolished sites of condominiums, detached houses and buildings, wood pallets generated in warehouse, packing wood generated in at the port, forest land residue and so on..

Productization: The collected or brought-in waste wood is chipped in our factory by a crusher and used as a raw material of particle board as our product.

Use: Commercialized particle board is used for housing materials, etc. in which most of the products are delivered by us.

When a dilapidated house is rebuilt or demolished, our particle board used in them is collected or brought in by us along with other waste wood. Waste wood is recycled to a particle board of the next generation instead of incinerating which can maintain fixed carbon as a material recycle by repeating the cycle of disposal, commercialization and use.
