Indorama : Mass production of PET-resin using aluminum-catalyst

Iwatani Corporation : consinment manufacturing of aluminum catalytic PET resins to Indorama, distribution management, and sales to bland owners

Start period (planned), etc.

Launched in 2015

Description of technologies and business models

The aluminum catalyst PET we handle has high thermal stability and recyclability compared to conventional PET resin. Since deterioration of color and physical properties is unlikely due to heat treatment at the time of molding or recycling of bottles, etc., it contributes to the PET bottle material recycling.

Although PET resin is originally excellent in recyclability, there has been a problem that, when recycling is repeated multiple times, physical properties deteriorate due to the influence of heat treatment.

Especially by the application to PET bottles, the effect of raising the efficiency of recycling of bottle to bottle is expected.

Actual results, targets, etc.

Currently, it is mainly used for PET bottle applications, and the demand in the futher is suppose to increase as the prospecive material that supports material recycling.
