Explanation of technology and business model

We are committed to reducing environmental impact at all stages of the product lifecycle, including product development, supply chain, production, and packaging.

The camera body partially utilizes SORPLAS™ (*1), a recycled plastic that provides durability, oil resistance, and high quality without relying on non-renewable resources. By actively using recycled materials in the camera body, Sony can achieve to reduce environmental impact and to maintain its high quality without compromising functionality. In addition, compact camera body, packed with cutting edge technologies, also contributes to improved transportation efficiency due to its small packaging. Amount of plastic used in packaging materials are also reduced while maintaining high cushioning performance. In addition, 100% of the electricity used at the product's manufacturing sites in Thailand and China is supplied by renewable energy sources (*2).

*1 SORPLAS™ may not be used in some parts depending on the production period.

*2 As of November 2021
