Members, their roles, and reason for cooperation

As part of our efforts to address the issue of fashion loss (clothing disposal), we launched a service called “Wear to Fashion” in 2022 in collaboration with ITOCHU Textile Company, which provides RENU, a polyester made from recycled used fibers.

We collect and sort clothes at various locations across the country to reuse and recycle clothes.

Key points of collaboration:

Wear to Fashion is an initiative to reuse and recycle collected clothes by collecting clothes from consumers at various collection points. This service is introduced to partner companies, brands, and local governments. The collected clothes will be responsibly reused and recycled by ITOCHU Corporation and ecommit to create an option not to throw away clothing.

Time started (or to be started)

From March 31, 2022

Technology and business model

We collect clothing from customers at the collection boxes installed in stores, surplus inventory generated by companies, and clothing collected at local government clean centers. Those clothes would be sorted to “reuse (ECOMMIT)'', “horizontal recycling (RENU)'', “other recycling”, and “thermal recovery” through Wear to Fashion.

Achievements and goals

By 2026, we aim to collect approximately 50,000 tons of textile products, which is 10% of all discarded clothing in Japan.
